Kanye Omari West was born in Atlanta, Georgia on June 8, 1977.
His father is Ray, a photographer for the Atlanta Daily, and a former political activist in the Black Tigers movement, while his mother, Donda, is a professor of English at Chicago State University and later moved to run her son’s business.
His parents divorced when he was 3 years old, and Kanye lived with his mother in Chicago until she died at the age of 58 from a heart disease that she sustained after undergoing plastic surgery in 2007.
